Over 25 years of history

2001

Matt was founded, rooted in solid experience dating back to the 1980s thanks to Aldo and Laura, who operated in the distribution of wellness products through pharmacies, herbal shops, and modern retail channels such as supermarkets and hypermarkets.

This journey allowed them to acquire expertise and lay the foundations for creating a brand that represents a unique and distinctive identity in the wellness sector. The goal was to become a regular presence in Italian households’ shopping lists with innovative and niche products, combined with new distribution techniques at the point of sale called rack jobbing.

The brand was created in memory of their son Matteo, who passed away prematurely, and is symbolized by a seagull, a testimonial inspired by Jonathan Livingston Seagull by Richard Bach, representing the idea of conquering new horizons, research, and innovation.

The following year, their son Stefano joined the company, bringing experience from the finance world. Within a few years, yhe brand Matt became a market leader in its reference sector.

2009

Matt’s growing presence in the food supplement and organic and functional foods market has opened the way for the launch of a new product category aligned with the brand’s philosophy. Alongside wellness "in," the brand introduced wellness "out," marking the birth of Matt’s innovative cosmetics line.

2012

The group that Matt belongs to, A&D S.p.A. Gruppo Alimentare e Dietetico, expanded upstream with the family holding acquiring a strategic stake in Salix S.r.l., a company specializing in contract manufacturing of food supplements and dietary foods, and Mare S.r.l., active in managing instrumental real estate.

2013


Matt acquired a new brand, La Tradizione Erboristica Forsan, which has been active for over 25 years in cosmetics and food supplements within the modern retail channel. This brand was completely relaunched in January 2014 with significant investments to support a new mission and development plan and today represents one of Matt’s main product lines.

2019

The group continued its upstream integration strategy by inaugurating a new 6,500 square meter facility for Almas S.r.l., an innovative start-up specialized in contract manufacturing of beverages and plant-based creams. The facility was built on real estate owned by the group’s Mare S.r.l. company. Almas S.r.l. achieved a turnover exceeding 27 million euros within just four years.

2020

Matt had become a well-established and continuously growing player in its market. The Milanese family, through the controlling holding MayMat S.r.l., decided to complete the development project initiated in previous years with Almas, Salix, and Mare. This solidified a supply chain behind Matt capable of providing raw materials and manufacturing supplements and foods.

Thus, the Progetto Benessere Italia S.r.l. group was born, with BF S.p.A. joining the shareholders with a 35% stake. BF is a publicly listed company leading a group active in agro-industry, livestock, and innovative technological services, and is Italy’s largest agricultural company by utilized agricultural area (SAU).

Progetto Benessere Italia S.r.l. (PBI) became the holding of a 100% Italian group which, together with BF and industrial partners from the Vicenza hub, A&D, Salix, Almas, and Mare, is capable of covering the entire food supplements and organic and functional foods supply chain.

2023

The group welcomed Laboratorio Chimico Farmaceutico Sella S.r.l., a venetian pharmaceutical company with 100 years of history producing and distributing pharmaceuticals, medical devices, cosmetics, and food supplements under its own and third-party brands.

This acquisition confirms the development strategy shared by the group’s shareholders (MayMat S.r.l., BF S.p.A., and the Vicenza industrial partners) focused on expanding the personal well-being sector across Italian and international channels, through virtuous partnerships among Italian industrial players and strong integration of production and commercial processes along the entire supply chain.

Today

Matt continues its development journey in well-being, offering innovative products across increasingly diverse channels in Italy and abroad, including online. It keeps rising, constantly seeking new markets and new horizons to explore, just like its symbol, a seagull flying beyond the boundaries of well-being, driven by an ongoing quest for innovation.
